Dr. Alynna J. Lyon
Dr. Alynna J. Lyon is Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of New Hampshire. She received a PhD in Political Science from the University of South Carolina in 1999. She recently completed a book manuscript titled The United States and the United Nations and co-edited a volume on Religion and Politics in a Global Society. Her research on the United Nations, U.S. foreign policy, humanitarian intervention and peacekeeping appear in several journals and edited books. She serves as faculty advisor for the UNH Model United Nations team and as part of the Model Diplomacy advisory group for the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2008 she was the recipient of a UNH Excellence in Teaching award. She also serves on the executive committee of the International Organization's section of the International Studies Association and as an OER Ambassador.
Mike was elected to the School Board in March 2015 and is Chair of the Facilities Committee. He is an attorney admitted in New Hampshire and Massachusetts for nearly 20 years. Mike and his wife have two children in the Newmarket schools and are active in the community. His wife, Dawn, is currently President of the Newmarket PTA. Mike is a 2007 Leadership Seacoast graduate, served as Chair of the Children's Museum of New Hampshire Board of Directors, as Chair of the Business Litigation Section of the New Hampshire Bar Association, as a member of the Seacoast Inns of Court, was appointed to the New Hampshire Supreme Court's Citizens Commission on State Courts, and recently served as President of the Newmarket Youth Basketball Association.
Anne Swainbank Ellis
Anne Ellis is the proud parent of two children, both of whom attend Newmarket Elementary School. She has lived in Newmarket since 2001, first as a renter and then she and her husband bought their first home here in 2003. She is currently the Principal of the Shapleigh School, a public school in Kittery Maine that serves students in grades 4 through 8. Previously, she was the Assistant Principal of Portsmouth Middle School for 10 years during which time the school district examined multiple options for dealing with an aging and outdated facility. As the Assistant Principal, Anne was involved in all facets of that project including not only the decision phases but also the extensive planning that was involved in the first three years of the addition and renovation project. She is pleased to be bringing skills and knowledge gained during that experience to Newmarket as a member of the Facilities Committee.
Mark grew up in Newmarket, attended its schools, and graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a BSCE in 1985. He is a Professional Civil Engineer with 30 years of experience in construction management. Mark and his wife have three children, the oldest having recently graduated from Newmarket Jr./Sr. High and with the youngest currently there.
Russ graduated from the Wharton School of Business - University of Pennsylvania in 1970. He worked for thirty four years in the global financial services industry, focusing on banking, asset-based finance, leasing, asset management, investment management and financial planning control. He retired as Director of Asset Management for Citibank's Leasing Business. He has been a member of a number of Boards of Directors and Committees ranging from industry associations, Church association and community organizations, often as the Chairperson or Head of Finance. Russ has served the Town of Newmarket in numerous capacities. He was elected to the Budget Committee on which he served for three years, including as the Committee's representative to the CIP Committee working with both the Town and the School District. Russ also served on the Town's Forensic Audit Committee and as a consultant to the Efficiency Committee. He has worked with several of the Town's Administrators and Council members on Town related issues. In addition to serving on the Facilities Committee, Russ is currently serving a three year term on the CIP Committee (elected Vice-Chair for 2015), having been appointed by the Town Council.
Skip and his wife moved to Newmarket in the early 1970s and raised a family here. Skip is a retired residential developer and builder, and he brings a wealth of relevant experience to the Facilities Committee from his career in that industry. Skip also has valuable experience having served on the Newmarket Facilities Committee leading up to the 2004 facilities vote.
Ingrid is a retired teacher. She received her bachelor's degree from Stout State University/U of Wisconsin-Stout and her master's degree from Michigan State University. Ingrid has 42+ years of teaching experience with pre-school, middle school, high school and adult professional learners. She is a life-time member of the National Education Association. She started her teaching career at Portsmouth High School and returned to the Seacoast Area to retire. Ingrid's daughter graduated from high school before they moved to Newmarket in 2013."
